The Japanese auto-maker has been quick and aggressive in penetrating the market and strengthening its brand image as well as raising its potential in terms of sales, after sales and marketing strategy, which has been highly successful.
From January to September this year, sales have reached 52,170 vehicles, up 64 per cent compared to the same period in 2011, when 31,847 vehicles were sold. Total sales of cumulative Mazda2s were 28,474 - a growth of 43 per cent - followed by the BT-50 PRO, which was launched during the second quarter of the year but has been able to achieve sales of 19,308, posting a growth of as much as 156 per cent. Meanwhile, the newly launched Mazda3 sports sedan and hatchback has been enjoying increasing success with 4,367 being sold during the first three quarters of the year. Mazda also sold 21 premium models.
Mazda Sales (Thailand) managing director Choichi Yuki said the company's sales in September maintained strong momentum despite the arrival of the rainy season that caused public concern in terms of flooding. "However, the automobile market showed no signs of slowing down, and Mazda was able to break the 7,000-vehicle sales mark for the three consecutive months," he pointed out.
Mazda sales in September reached 7,237 vehicles, growing by 82 per cent and comprising 3,580 Mazda2 Sports and Elegances (up 32 per cent), 3,065 BT-50 PROs (up 242 per cent), 591 Mazda3 1.6s and 2.0s (up 57 per cent), and one vehicle in the premium car range. In total, Mazda was able to sell 52,170 vehicles during the first nine months of 2012, posting a growth of 64 per cent.
"If we compare the sales performance in each quarter, we will see that Mazda has been growing steadily. Sales in Q1 were 14,264 vehicles, an increase of 43 per cent compared to the corresponding period last year. Meanwhile, Q2 sales enjoyed even higher growth with sales of 16,313 vehicles, increasing by 58 per cent, and Q3 sales surged 87 per cent to 21,593 vehicles. It is expected that Q4 sales would exceed 20,000 vehicles, allowing Mazda to better the original 70,000-vehicle annual sales target," Yuki added.
